Henry II granted Bedford it’s Charter in 1166, making it the 2nd oldest Charter in the country and our market culture is still strong today. Speciality markets such as Gourmet Food, Home and Garden, Continental and monthly farmers, artists and arts and crafts markets alongside the twice weekly Charter Market are held in Harpur Square and St Paul’s Square.
