At the head of Bedford’s High Street stands St Peters Church, one of the oldest in the town. Among its treasures the church boasts a radiant stained glass window devoted to local hero – Fred Burnaby.

Soldier, writer, explorer and balloonist Burnaby was “the” Victorian hero and prints of his magnificent 6’4” frame resplendent in his horse guards dress uniform adorned parlours, kitchens and bedrooms throughout the country.
